I rated it a 1 for difficulty (a KLR650 would have no problem, and a big GS with a GOOD rider would be ok, except for some of the rougher side detours to viewpoints), but it's a long slow ride, so plan on a full day if you want to see everything. Bring a portable light for the Taft Tunnel, and lots of layering for the changeable climate due to the high altitude - 50 continuous miles of the ride is over 5000 feet.
