The Summerland Way has a few parts, so I'll start my description from the northern end, riding south. From the start of the Summerland Way (at the Mt Lindesay Higfhway intersection) you wind down the range. Some parts have been recently rebuilt (2006), eliminating really rough and sharp corners. Comfartable ride for all, but can be 'interesting' if pushing hard. Obviously the harder you push, the greater the risk of getting caught out on one of the downhill corners (none off-camber, and none decreasing radius - so fast but careful is fine). Once you are off the range you are on abeautiful road through Grevillea and Old Grevillia, with open sweepers and a few tighter sections. Good surface all the way. Just past Roseberry (about 35 k's into the ride) is the turnoff to the Lions Road on the left, and a 8k ride up this road will take you to Ripples on the Creek - great stop for lunch or coffee (and buy an Alpaca wool beanie), then double back to the Summerland Way. The section from here to Kyogle is not as interesting as what you have just ridden, but it is open and not very challenging. We haven't found anywhere worth having a coffee in Kyogle, so we head on through to Casino, that has more selection. The road between Kyogle and Casino is easy, wide open, and with a good surface. From Casino the Summerland Way continues another 100 k's to Grafton, and this is a fast, well-surfaced road with little traffic. Easy to find that you are going faster than you intended along here.
