Last week at SEMA, Garmin announced a partnership to deliver ride content to its Zumo and automotive GPS users with MAD MAPS (you know the guys who make those colorful posters that you have to unfold on the side of the road and then wad up). Perusing their press release, I was happy to see Garmin finally acknowledge "that the best way to get somewhere isn't always the fastest way." Glad they are finally seeing the light. Unfortunately, to see their MAD routes you'll have fork over some coin. Specifically, Garmin will offer:
U.S. Regional Touring Series, $11.99 per map. There are 24 maps in this series. Each map contains between 25-35 routes.
Get Outta Town Series, $6.99 per map. There are 25 maps in this series. Each map contains 5-7 routes.
Rally Run Series, $6.99 per map. There are 4 maps in this series, averaging 5 routes.
Now, I know you're thinking that my obvious next statement is gonna be "why would anyone buy these maps when they can get hundreds of motorcycle rides at SMR for nothin, nada, zed, zero, nil..." Nope, I know you already get it. What I hope is that you all protect your friends from succumbing to the hype. Community sharing rules! Garmin there is a better way...and you poster dudes...please stop killing trees already!
