Sep 26, 2008 - 5 Year Pancreatic Cancer Survivor and 5 Year Chemotherapy Patient, Chris Calaprice kicks off his 50 State Motorcycle and Documentary Tour with Road2ACure The California Ride & Rally on October 12, 2008. Chris, with his wife Jennifer, had such success in raising both awareness and funds to support the fight against pancreatic cancer during their 2007 Ride for Hope event that they founded Road2ACure, a non-profit organization.

There will also be vendors, competitions, activities for the kids, raffle prizes, and auction items. You do not want to miss this ride. See you there on the Road2ACure. Beginning February 21-October 11, 2009, Chris will embark, and he wants you to join him on a 50 State Motorcycle Tour with a live film crew documenting the ride. Along the way, Chris and his wife Jennifer, Road2ACure President, will organize rides and rallies throughout the country modeled after the October 12th ride. At the same time, they will be visiting pancreatic cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, grassroots activists, policy makers, oncologists, medical centers and local and federal legislators. All of this is being done to drive home the necessity for progress in early detection, treatment and finally a cure. Chris, who has been receiving chemotherapy since his cancer diagnosis in 2003, will continue his treatment while on the tour that will span over 20,000 miles.
Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in the United States, yet its funding accounts for less than 2% of the National Cancer Institute’s annual budget. Of the more than 37,000 Americans who will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year alone, only 25% will survive more than a year. Only 5% will survive past 5 years. Pancreatic cancer remains one of the few cancers for which survival has not improved substantially over the past 25 years - awareness and funding must be raised NOW!Road2ACure is endorsed by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
