Stoner even faster?
Aug 21, 2007
Two days of testing closed out today at Brno with Casey Stoner bettering his own fastest race lap and breaking the lap record which had been unbeaten on Sunday. Despite rain and wet conditions, Stoner put in over 75 laps, testing amoung other things a new faring designed to offer more agility and front end feel in windy conditions.
Day 1 Comments: Casey Stoner Today was reasonably busy - we didn't do a lot of laps but we did some very good and very important test with some new equipment. We had a new fairing which went very well. We had good results with and this is a positive thing for the rest of the season. We had also a lot of tyres to test and there were a couple of rears we were very happy with. We tested the new fairing in the afternoon and we didn't have new tyres so we use an old ones: we were do consistently 1'58.7, 1'58.9 already with seventeenth laps on the tyres so it was working quite well: we were happy with it and with everything we tested today. We are not sure exactly when we will use the new fairing in race because I think we have to find a little bit more information with it but this is the right direction. I did 1'56.901 with a qualifying tyre, which is not so bad, so I'm pretty happy with the job I'm doing with my team.
Day 2 Comments: Casey Stoner I'm pretty happy. Today we made a further step forward on bike set-up, similar to what we did in the post-race tests at Catalunya. I'm also happy with the new fairing because conditions were a bit windy this afternoon but I could still lap fast at a very good rhythm. I think these two days have been really positive for us.
