Kawasaki Superbike riders ready again
Sep 3, 2007
For both Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) and Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) round 11 of the World Superbike Championship will be a stiff challenge, but with a hunger for even greater measurable success still burning bright, each will pose a significant obstacle for their rivals to overcome.
Laconi is looking to Lausitz to improve on his personal season best of fifth, while Nieto is looking to score strong points in each race to enable him to move back up the championship table from his current 13th place.
The Lausitz track may not be the most technical or character-laden circuit on the calendar, but it is certainly one of the most impressive, with vast grandstands almost blocking the skyline on the main straight and seemingly endless permutations of layout in their shadow, making this a popular test venue for the German Automotive industry in general.
Both PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse riders will concentrate their initial efforts on getting their basic set-up right, especially after coming from a racetrack which is as different from Lausitz as it is possible to be - the high-speed roller-coaster of Brands Hatch.
Regis Laconi We need to get the bike easy to ride and easy to turn, as we had some problem with that at Lausitz last year. Maybe our bike will be good there because we would have expected it to be at its very best at Brands Hatch, and it wasn't really. So the way the set-up is now may suit Lausitz better. After a month's training and holiday I am certainly ready to go racing again.
Fonsi Nieto We had a good opening day at Brands Hatch and we have to try to have another good start to the Lausitz weekend. I was already thinking about Germany as soon as Brands was finished, as the tracks are very different from each other.
