Ride Description

This is a scenic ride that will lead you to a few of my favorite fishing holes. From St. George you will travel up UT-18 past Baker Lake. The campground here is pretty poor (undeveloped and unpaved), but the small lake usually has some nice trout. This is basically fall back campground if the Pine Valley campgrounds are full. From here it's just a short jaunt into Pine Valley. Coming down into the town, you'll feel like you've traveled back in time to a place where your bike will surely be the most technically advanced piece of machinery around. Proceed through the town up to the reservoir and on to the campgrounds. The Blue Springs campground is a great place to spend a few days....if you think rushing streams cutting through pine grove campsites and frequent visits by curious deer to be enjoyable. The reservoir is usually stocked with rainbow trout and is generally a magnificent place to just relax. From Pine Valley, you can continue up UT-18 to Enterprise and then on through to Cedar City. On this trip, I rode all the way up through Deer creek and on to Panguitch Lake. This is beautiful ride up through the mountains that overlook Zion National Park. Be careful in early summer as there will still be tons of snow and ice, but the views will be worth it. Riding up from Deer Creek to Panguitch, I was amazed by all of the volcanic (A 'a) lava formations. From Panguitch Lake you then have many options to either head back toward Cedar City or on to Bryce Canyon, Zion, etc.
