A Long Day in San Diego

This was a long day. Due to a combination of weather and family commitments, I hadn't been out on the roads for a good month, so I was itching to ride. I decided to leave early to get as much riding in before meeting up with some friends later in the morning. I started on Highway 94 and headed up Sunrise Highway. This is an interesting segment as it started up nice and warm in desert area and basically became freezing as I reached the summit at Sunrise. At one point I was shivering so much that slowed to a crawl as I didn't think I would be able to control my bike in the turn. After weathering the summit, I headed back toward the desert down Banner Grade. My original plan was to head all the way to Anza Borrego to hit up Montezuma, but the cold on Sunrise set me back. Instead I headed up San Felipe road to meet up with some friends in Santa Ysabel and head up Palomar East. After a nice rest in Mothers, we started our back towards Ramona. The plan was to take Wildcat Canyon before hitting the freeway home. Unfortunately dulled reactions from nearly 200 miles on a naked bike and a pile of dirt that came out of nowhere on Old Julian Highway nixed that plan. In any case, a nice but long day.
