Elfin Forest is a great road for those days that you just want to go for a leaisurely cruse. Coming from the south, I'll cruise up the coast for breakfast/coffee at one of the numerous cafes on the way. Elfin Forest Road keeps you on your toes with some nice rollers and turns through a "forest" (we are in San Diego after all) but it's not so technical that you can't enjoy the view. On the way back be sure to stop by Lake Hodges for more relaxing and scenic view. Del Dios Hwy has some fun moderate sweepers, but can be crowded. If you are headed south, you can turn off at Via de le Valle and cruise though some San Diego farmland, complete with orange orchards. All and all, not a bad way to start the weekend.
