This is an absolute must detour / ride if you are in this area! It is a mistake to miss it. I have not been back to this area since 2002, but plan on going back soon. Before you start, grab a cup of coffee at Boulder Mesa Cafe. Head southeast on Burr Trail road and be cautious as you ride. The scenery is magnificent, but the road is narrow with no shoulders and one very high dropoff into Long Canyon. You also need to be aware of sand and gravel wash in the road. The pavement goes about 17 miles but if you like gravel, you can ride all the way to Lake Powell. There is a great view to the southwest at Long Valley Overlook, where the pavement ends.
