A nice 'figure 8' loop through the rural backroads of Nanjemoy, MD. There are scenic views and nice sweeping curves in this rustic area bounded by the Nanjemoy Creek and the Potomac River. For the astronomist hobbiests, the radio astronomical observatory is located near the Potomac River which used to be operated by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. It is now managed by the Nanjemoy Creek Environmental Education Center - and it's possible to get certificed to use the Celestron CGE 1400 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope at the facility.
