If you've been to Big Bear or Snow Summit in the winter you know the potential of this road. Unfortunately if you've been there in the winter, you've probably also experienced the traffic. The good news is that once the snow melts the tourist traffic also subsides (the resorts stay open for mountain bikers and hikers) and traffic isn't nearly as bad (especially on a weekday). The 330 is nothing but tight curves from San Bernardino to Running Springs. After Running Springs, the road becomes Hwy 18 (Rim of the World Hwy) and sweeps its way down to Big Bear Lake. Take a right across the dam to visit the south side of the lake or continue forward for the north shore. Depending on your return destination, you can take Highway 38 or Highway 18 to avoid simply backtracking (not the the road dosen't deserve a 2nd run!).
