This is a very scenic ride along the back roads of Northwestern Illinois and Southwestern Wisconsin. The ride starts in Savanna, Il at Poopy's Pub. I cannot give this establishment any higher praise than you will not find a more biker friendly establishment on this planet. We camped for free behind the pub, which provides free showers (hot) and bathroom access around the clock. We had dinner, after dinner refreshments, and breakfast. I willl always stop by Poopy's when in the area. Ride north on Hwy 84 through Savanna to Clay street. Don't forget to stop at Iron Horse Social Club in downtown and check out the free museum. Head east on Clay street, which turns into Scenic Ridge, to US 20. Scenic Ridge changes names to South Derinda well before you reach US 20. Follow US 20 west through Elizabeth to Scales Mound road and ride north into Wisconsin and the junction of CR-O and CR-W. Turn west on CR-W to the New Diggins General Store and order up a round of Spotted Cow. After leaving New Diggins, ride west on CR-W into Benton and head east on Hwy 11 to Monroe. Ride north on Hwy 69 to Monticello and riding north to New Glarius. A little Swiss Village in Wisconsin, be sure to visit the New Glarius Brewery and the Sportsman's Bar. Follow Hwy 69 north out of New Glarius and continue through Belleville to Paoli. Be sure to stop at Dottie's Cellar Bar in Basco, it will not be open if they have not gotten home from their main job yet. Continue north on Hwy 69 until you reach US 151, be sure to visit the Broken Spur Saloon just north of the intersection of Hwy 69 and US 151. Much of this ride is hilly and twisty, be sure to ride cautiously when needed. Enjoy the ride and be safe.
