This is a great afternoon ride along the Bluffs of the Mississippi south of St. Louis. The Ride starts at Denny's in South County and goes south along the Bluff road from Columbia IL to Ellis Grove, Il. Be sure to stop at the Fountain Inn, Lisas, Boondocks and Pop a Top in Ellis Grove. Take note of the Crypt on the Bluff overlooking the Fountain Inn. It is located in Eagle Cliff Cemetary which contains the graves of two Revolutionary War Veterans among many settlers and Civil War Veterans. Continue the ride south along Rte 3 to Chester and cross the Mississippi into Missouri. Turn north on Hwy H and follow it to US 61. Follow US 61 north through St. Marys, St. Geneveive, until you reach Imperial, MO. Total mileage of this ride is 126 miles and takes between 3 to 4 hours depending on your speed and how much you stop to smell the roses.
