EXACT ROUTE/OTHER DETAILS:
Sunday September 16th Staging 8:30am, Kickstands up at 9:00am Stater Bros. Parking Lot, 13589 Poway Road (near corner Poway and Midland Roads), We will be lining up our bikes in the NW corner.
Please arrive with a tank full of gas and a somewhat empty bladder. We will depart the parking lot promptly at 9:00am.
Well turn Right on Poway Road out of the parking lot to leave town and turn left on the 67 following the road up and through Ramona. In Ramona our road magically turns into the 78.
Following the 78 Well come into Santa Ysabel where we will turn left onto the 79 heading to The Hideout.
If you havent been there before, this is a must go destination.
Its a biker bar. Well take a 1/2-1 hour break here for bathrooms, etc. They have coffee, tea, and sodas, but not much at all in the way of snacks. THE HIDEOUT MAY NOT BE RE-OPENED YET. In addition to water, snacks may be a good thing for us to pack in our saddlebags.
Leaving The Hideout, well turn left on the 76 and then right on S-7. Thats East Grade Road up to Palomar Mountain. WE HAVE THE OPTION TO STOP AT OBSERVATORY adds about 12 miles. Well do this for sure if The Hideout is Closed so folks get a bathroom and butt break.
There are three photographers that sit along side the grades leading up to and down from . Its a pretty neat deal, we go to their website(s), find our photo and order it on-line if we like it. The one I know of off-hand is http://www.rickclemson.com I have to talk to (gulp) Sportbike riders to find out the other two.
Well go down the South Grade S-6 and turn right (merge really) at a yield sign onto the 76 West.
A few nice twistys through some avocado groves. Then we turn left on S-6. This is a tricky intersection! Safety is more important than keeping the group together. The leader will pull over to re-group (if necessary) in front of Harrahs Casino.
After necessary re-grouping Well continue on the S-6 almost into Valley Center where well turn right on Lilac Road which magically turns into Old Castle Road and follow it to Old 395 where we will turn left. Another tricky Intersection, no lights! We'll proceed South a few miles then turn right on and Deer Springs Road and left to th
e South I-15.
Well take the I-15 down to , Exit right heading West on Rancho Bernardo Road and then our first left onto W. Bernardo Road. Turning left into the parking lot JUST PAST the Blue Roadway Inn Sign. We have made it to Hooters. The end of the ride and the start of the party. I'm guessing this will be around 1:00pm.
