There are many routes from Sioux Falls SD to St. Louis MO and this is one of my favorites. I try to avoid the interstate when time permits and this is a great route. Head south on Hwy 75 in Luverne MN to LeMars IA. This is about a 58 mile ride through rural NW Iowa. Turn east on Hwy 3 and ride to Cherokee IA. Ride south on Hwy 59 approximately 53 miles to Denison IA. By the time you arrive in Denison, it will be time for lunch. My suggestion is McDonalds! The McDonalds in Denison is unique; it is a ?theme? restaurant. Denison is the home to ?Donna Reed? (star of ?It?s a Wonderful Life? and other movies and TV shows). Well worth a stop for Big Mac. After satisfying your hunger, continue riding south on Hwy 59 to Hwy 141 and ride east; about 8 miles. Continue riding east on Hwy 141 about 45 miles through Manning and Coon Rapids then turn south on Hwy 25. Follow Hwy 25 south about 25 miles through Guthrie Center to the junction of Hwy 25 and I-80. Continue south on Hwy 25 about 32 miles through Greenfield to Creston and Hwy 34. I think one of the most scenic highways in the state of Iowa is Hwy 34. Ride east on Hwy 34 to I-35 and the town of Osceola. There are several bike dealerships here and fuel and food if needed. Continue east on Hwy 34 approximately 70 miles to Ottumwa then turn south on Hwy 63. Follow Hwy 63 from Ottumwa to Hwy 2 at Bloomfield. The rest of this route is on more narrow roads with a few hills and curves. Turn east on Hwy 2 and ride to the junction of Hwy 2 and Hwy 15. Ride south on Hwy 15 into Missouri and the town of Memphis MO. Be sure to stop at Keith?s Caf? in Memphis for the best steak in the region. If you don?t, you will becheating yourself out of a great meal. This ride is about 420 miles and will take all day with a lunch and dinner stop. Ride safe and enjoy the ride.
