The C&F is one of England's most famous, and most dangerous routes. It is 10 miles or so of A-road over the hills between Buxton and Macclesfield and, while it is a mixture of 50 and 60mph limits. there are plenty of bends where you wouldn't want to be anywhere near that kind of speed. This road frequently features in the top 10 most dangerous list and bikers die here every year without fail. Even people who have been riding it for 30 years get caught out. The police presence is heavy, particularly at weekends during the summer, and the police use helicopters to nail bikers who've been overdoing it. Locals who are sick of the sportsbikes screaming past are rumoured to put diesel on the road from time to time.

Having said all that, it *is* a fantastic road in beautiful, dramatic scenery. I try to ride it on my way home at least once a week. Just don't go crazy on your first time... get to know it really well before you start the Rossi impressions.
